Limited and Full AKC

Registration Explained

The American Kennel Club (AKC) provides two types of registrations. There is a “limited” registration and a “full” registration.

An AKC limited registrations is for a family companion. This means that this particular dog is registered, but none of it’s puppies can be registered with the AKC. It also can not participate in most AKC competitions and the AKC registration certificate has an orange border around the edge. This type of registration is paired with a non-breeding agreement and puppies are priced currently at $1650.00 from Lane Rae Beagles (the price will be increasing on January 1st, 2024 to $2000).

An AKC full registration means that the particular dog can produce AKC registered puppies and participate in all AKC events and competitions. The AKC registration certificate will have a purple border around the edge. We only allow a full registration on select Beagles that have been evaluated and found to be of superior competition quality, that will be participating in competitions and responsibly bred. A full registration is available to select homes at $2000.00 - $2500.00 and we offer a co-ownership with full show mentorship.

Be careful of breeders that offer all of their puppies with full registration as they are not concerned about upholding the breed standard, their reputation or the quality of their line.
